This opportunity offers participants a $500 stipend to learn Active Storytelling—a hands-on approach to surface stories that are often overlooked, erased, or left untold.
Participants will:
Learn practical storytelling and listening skills
Explore memory, place, and lineage through accessible creative practices
Practice story gathering in small, supportive groups
Contribute to a community-centered storytelling project
No prior storytelling, arts, or media experience is required. This opportunity is open to community members who are curious, reflective, and interested in honoring real stories with care.
Location: First Christian Church, Carbondale, online and in Southern Illinois Community
Stipend: $500 (for those who complete THE FULL process)
